【摘要】:Theintentofthistestmethodistoaidthecandlemanufacturertooptimizecandleformulationsinthereductionofvisiblesmokeemissions.Thistestmethodisintendedtoprovidecandlemanufacturersastandardproceduretouseduringdevelopmentofcandledesignsandformulationstocomparerelativesmoke/burnbehavior.Forthedevelopmentofthismethod,aprotocolwasestablishedfortrimmingthewickonspeciallypreparedtestcandlesto6to7mm(x00BC;in.)priortoeachburncycle.Itisrecommendedthatthemanufacturerdetermineastandardizedprotocol,thatis,eithernottrimmingthewickortrimmingthewicktoanappropriatelengthinorderfordirectcomparisonofresults.Arelativerankingofcandleformulationscanbeestablishedwiththeuseofahistogramofthedataandcontrolcharts.Thistestmethodisnotintendedtosetforthpass/failcriteriaforvisiblesmokeemissionsfromcandles,assuch,thismethodsetsnostandardlevelforvisiblesmokeemissions.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthecollectionandanalysisofvisibleemissionsfromindoorusecandlesastheyburn.1.2Thetestistobeusedtocomparerelativesmoke/burnbehaviorduringdevelopmentofcandledesignsandformulations.1.3Thistestmethodmaynotbesuitableformultiplewickcandles;tapersandcandlesintendedtobeburnedwhilefloatingonwatercommonlyknownas"floaters."Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
