【摘要】:Thetechniquesdescribedhereincanbeusedtoproducestrongpressure-tightjointsbetweenPVCpipeandfittings,eitherinshopoperationsorinthefield.However,skillandknowledgeonthepartoftheoperatorarerequiredtoobtainagoodqualityjoint.Thisskillandknowledgecanbeobtainedbymakingjointsundertheguidanceofskilledoperatorsandtestingthemuntilgoodqualityjointsareobtained.1.1Thispracticedescribesaprocedureformakingjointswithpoly(vinylchloride)plastic(PVC)pipes,bothplainendsandfittings,andbellends,bymeansofsolventcements.TheseproceduresaregeneralonesforPVCpiping.Innon-pressureapplications,simplifiedproceduresmaybeused.Manufacturersshouldsupplyspecificinstructionsfortheirparticularproducts,ifandwhenitseemsnecessary.1.2ThetechniquescoveredareapplicableonlytoPVCpipe,bothplainandbell-end,andfittingsofthesameclassesasdescribedinSpecificationD1784.1.3Pipeandfittingsaremanufacturedwithincertaintolerancestoprovideforthesmallvariationsintheextrusion,belling,andmoldingprocessesandarenottoexactsize.ApartiallistofstandardsforPVCpipe,fittings,andcementssuitableforuseinmakingsolvent-cementedjointsisgiveninAppendixX1.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thetextofthispracticereferencesnotesandfootnotesthatprovideexplanatorymaterial.Thesenotesandfootnotes(excludingthoseintablesandfigures)shallnotbeconsideredasrequirementsofthepractice.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
